ROAD SAFETY

Rooms 1 and 2 had Constable Gordon come and teach us about road safety. We discussed many things such as; how tall we must be before we don't need a booster seat anymore, why we should wear a helmet when we ride our bikes or scooters, why it is a good idea to wear a high vis vest when we are out and about, as well as how to cross a road safely. Here are some photos from our sessions with her:

Magic Show

We watched an amazing magic show with lots of spectacular tricks and illusions. He even pulled a real bunny out of a hat! The show also had an educational message "Be Bright, Eat Right" all about food groups and healthy eating. Isabella was a fantastic magician's assistant.

Strike Percussion Group

The Strike percussion group put on a show for us at school. We enjoyed watching and listening to them on a variety of different drums and percussion instruements-they even made music from fire! We were proud of Miss McDiarmid when she showcased her talent on the drums! Later we all had a go at making rhythms on drums in a fun workshop.

Rippa Rugby

Last Friday we had our Rippa Rugby Tournament. We played in mixed teams with Room 3 and 4 and rotated around the field so we got to play lots of games. We had a great time making rips, scoring trys and getting involved. Here are some photos...

Team Work

This term we received some new puzzles from COEC. Some of them are very challenging but this particular group of children persevered together to complete the giant floor puzzle, of under water sea creatures, that you can see in the pictures. They were very proud of their accomplishment.

Pippa comes to visit

On Friday we were lucky enough to have Katie's new puppy Pippa come and visit us. Katie had told us a lot about her new puppy and this was a very exciting treat for Rooms 1 and 2. We enjoyed giving Pippa a pat and she seemed to really enjoy the pats too!

Baking ANZAC Biscuits

This week Rosebank School celebrated ANZAC Day by holding a special remembrance assembly on Thursday. Rooms 1 and 2 spent the week learning about what ANZAC Day is all about by reading stories, creating poppy artwork and making ANZAC biscuits. Here you can see photo's of us working together to create the ANZAC biscuits. They tasted AMAZING!!

Science with M&Ms

On Tuesday we carried out a science experiment using four different coloured M&Ms and water. Before doing the experiment we made predictions about what we thought was going to happen to the M&Ms. Next we moved into four groups and were given a small plastic bowl of water. We took turns at placing a different coloured M&M in each quarter of the bowl.  We then used our scientist eyes to observe what happened to the M&Ms next. We noticed that;
- the colours came off the M&Ms and went in the water
- the M&Ms turned white and then brown
- the colours spread to touch each other
- the yellow and blue colours made green
- the red and yellow colours made orange
- the blue and red colours made purple
