Hot Cross Buns

Today we made hot cross buns for Easter. We began by taking turns to add the various ingredients to the pan. We then put the pan into the bread maker and the bread maker kneaded the the ingredients so that it became dough.
Once the dough was kneaded we broke it into 16 sections, so that there was a piece for us each. We rolled our piece of dough into a ball and then placed it in a tray to be left in the sun and warmth to rise.
After lunch Mrs Clark gave us a ball of pastry. We broke the ball into two and rolled it into 'snakes' which we then created the crosses for the top of our buns. Mrs Clark then put our buns in the oven to bake.
While our buns were baking in the oven we coloured, cut out and stuck together some paper baskets for our hot cross buns to go in. To finish the activity we were able to enjoy our hot cross buns for afternoon tea! Yummm

Our Crazy Cress Heads Have Taken Off!!

As you are aware a couple of weeks ago we planted some cress seeds in a cup so that we could grow some crazy hair. After leaving them in the sunshine and warmth of Room 1 and watering them every second day they have really started to take off.
We also planted some barley seeds that Katie and her family kindly brought in for us. These did not germinate as quickly as our cress but they have also started to sprout, which we are very excited about.

Making milky milos...mmm!

This morning we had a learning experience about the letter "m". How many "m's" can you count?

We moved like mice to the staffroom. We made frothy milk in the milk machine. We mixed milo, milk and marshmallows in a mug. We used our magnificent manners and enjoyed our milky milos with a mallow puff. Mmmm! Many of us made milky moustaches. Then we mopped up our mess and moved like mice back to the classroom to write about it. Read our marvellous stories on the classroom wall!

Everyone say "Mmmmm!"

Making crazy hair

On Friday afternoon Rooms 1 and 2 made 'grass heads'. Earlier in the week Miss McDiarmid took a picture of us pulling a silly face. She stuck these onto a plastic cup and explained that we were going to plant some cress seeds so that they grew out of the top of the cup and looked as though we had crazy hair. This is how we made them;
First we went outside- Isabella
Then we put dirt in our cups- Katie
Next we used our fingers to make holes in the dirt - Jack
After that we put the seeds in the cups- Riley
Then we put some more dirt in the cups so that our seeds were hidden- Kase
Lastly we watered our seeds so that they can grow -Ryan

We know that seeds need sunshine and water to grow. We have left them in the sun in Room 1 and we are taking turns to water them every morning.

Maths

Here we are comparing lengths. We have used a base line so our measuring is accurate. We have ordered the rods from the shortest to the longest.
We talked about what month our birthday was in. We sorted and grouped children together that had birthdays in the same month. We coloured in a little birthday cake, then we made a bar graph from them to display our findings. We can talk about the graph we made.
